Tips for Repair Your Own Auto Glass Chips

With a bit knowledge about repairing some small matters of the car problem, sometime can save our money and time. Some small problem that we think we can repair by our own-self and not need send to workshop, but if the problem is big and you didn’t have knowledge or experience to repair it, it is better to send to professional for repair before it gets worse. A repair that often overlooked until is too late is auto glass chip repair. While a chip in the windshield may not seem like much environmental waste pollution and stress of temperature changing can cause it to grow over time, and resulting in cracks and will cost you more expensive.

Below are some tips that you can practice to repair a chip in the windshield before it gets worse with glass repair kit cars. The first step is you need to inspect the damage. A general rule is that windshield damage is limited to a minor chip and you must repair it before it becomes a major problem with a long veins crack. This usually is not repairable. A small spider cracks often can repair as well. If you in doubt, you can consult a professional for opinion and advice.

If your car auto glass chip is minor problem and you determine that it is a glass repair, you can go to the local auto parts store to find a repair kit. At there, they offer different kinds of repair tools and option for repair. Although it was offered by many companies, but it work the same way and have similar elements. The kits typically include a base or stabilizer that resembles a suction cup, applicator or nozzle, a curing adhesive film and a tube of resin.

Before you start to do the repairing job, be sure read carefully the detailed instructions came with the kit. Once you have done the reading and understanding the process, clean the chip and the area around it as best as possible with glass cleaner. Afterwards, whip dry with a clean towels or rags. If there is any debris on the chip, you can use a safety pin or similar item to remove it.

When the area is clean, you can affix the base or stabilizer to the windshield; and usually with an adhesive. Make sure it is carefully positioned, and it that the seal between it and the glass is tight. After that, place the stabilizer or applicator nozzle. While injecting the resin, the air is extracted from between the windscreen and stabilizer. The vacuum created helps to draw the resin into the crack and to protect the chips from pollutants in the air. Once the resin has cured for the time specified, remove the applicator and the stabilizer. Then, placing a drop of resin on the repair and placing the cured film thereof. When you are making the film, make sure to remove any air bubbles that may present. Again, repeat the step that curing of the resin in the amounted time specified.

Once you have finish all the curing of the resin and waiting for it dry, you need to remove the film. If you find any part is not uniform, you can use a razor blade or cutter blade for solve it. Any of excess adhesive or resin residue can be cleaned with glass cleaner. After completed correctly, the repair should be kept fairly quiet at the pint. While a chip in the windshield may seem insignificant, it is important to take care it as soon as possible before it become worse.
