You Can Save More Fuel by Just Little Slow Down
Both diesel and gasoline are a car fuel that the price continues increase and there does not seem to be an end. For drivers who need to use the vehicle to run their living especially, truck drivers, the increasing of car fuel’s price look like a disastrous because they need to use fuel to complete their job of transporting goods across the state and sometime across the country. After the price of fuel are increase like a skyrocket, many truck drivers include trucking companies have a question that how to save their cost of driving. Many factors was been take in consideration how to save cost of running the jobs of transport and one method could be use for get the purpose is running vehicle slow down.
Many larger trucking companies are leading the way of slow down driving by setting the governors (electronic speed limiters) on their driving from 65 miles per hour to 62 miles per hour. Some trucking companies especially where fleet over 8,000 trucks have; slowing down by just only 3 miles per hour can help them save cost more $12 million per year.
When compare to cars, how do those savings? If each of 8,000 trucks were reduce 3 mph for their speed that would be like cars over 7,000 disappearing from the road. Roadway without densely traffic would reduce carbon dioxide emissions that are better for the environment. For this way of trucking companies, carbon dioxide emissions was been reduce by over 70 million pounds. Not only helpful for fuel saving for the truck companies but, the whole country can breath easier because of the reduced emissions.
The American Trucking Association and other the larger trucking companies would like all their drivers to slow down for saving fuel all across the board. The slow down driving of trucks is also allow more safety for cars which using the same highways. For the entire country, reducing speed less than 60 mph would increase the savings which may inadvertently reduce the price of fuel for everyone.
There is suggestion from some people that new trucks should be manufactured with an internal governor. This will permanently keep trucks from driving faster than 68 mph. It would probably have governors for automobiles too; otherwise the governors’ speed would be reduced.
Do not expect the smaller trucking companies or automobile drivers to be enthused about changes in manufacturing that is possible. If you are the owner of a small trucking company or a private truck owner, slower trucks means more money in the pockets. Independent truckers can make more money with the more miles they have behind them.
However, nobody expects reducing speeds can solve the current fuel cost crisis completely. But, slow down driving of each type of vehicle can reduce the chance of accident occurrence and it will enhance the good environment along the highway. So, it is time to reduce your speed whether you are the owner of the trucks company or just only a small car owner.
