It is best to do this job when the car is parked on a level surface when you want to check the level of the oil in the engine because the level surface allows you easy to determine about the actually level of oil. Do not do the check when the engine is hot after just being driven, otherwise, do it either when the engine has cooled down or is cold. The oil dipstick can show you exactly where it is located in relation to the engine. When you want to know how much oil in the engine, take the oil dipstick out and wipe it with a dry clean cloth, then put it back in making sure that it has been pushed all the way in. Now pull it out and look at the marks on stick to check the level of oil. You need to wipe the stick after pulling it out because the whole stick will be covered in oil that is hard to see actually level the oil has. The high and low oil level marks will be denoted by dots or dashes, or by the letters H and L on the stick.
The last subject to do for maintenance your car is regularly checking how much coolant there is. Coolant commonly is bolted on a side of the engine bay and the bottle is normally semi-transparent.
