The Steps to Transfer Cassette Tapes to Computer, CD and MP3 – I
How is very great since we know that we can transfer our love songs from our old cassette tapes to our computer? Not only a computer that we can keep hit songs ’60 transferred from cassette taps , but they can stored in CD and MP3 that allow us to take it together on a trip too. Ok, now we will start together to transfer our favorite songs from cassette tapes to our computer. But, what thing we need to do this are;
- Working Cassette Deck
- Computer with a sound card
- Software application which recording stereo audio is allowed for us
- Cable to connect the cassette deck to our computer
After all above items were prepared, now looking for what another important factor in a good transfer. Oh! I see! it is the quality of the analogue playback machine. What is playback machine? Do not go too far from here, it just mean to the tape deck we are using. Therefore, try to find or use the best quality and best sounding tape deck to our ears that we can. We will get excellent sound on playback if we have a 3 head machine (you can borrow from your friends) with well working is provided.
Now, do not start to run our machine until we already clean the heads, capstans and pinch rollers with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and a q-tip because the machine is probably come with dirty which tape oxide can be found that can muffle the high frequencies and give us a dull sounding recording. To clean the tape deck, what we need to do is to rub the heads gently with the wetted cotton bud until no more brown gunk comes off.
When we turn our attention on a computer, we can see that there are sound cards with 3.5mm and mini-jack connectors that usually come with most computers and laptops. But, if you have a more specialized sound card, you may have larger 1/4″ jacks or even XLR connectors, but if you have one of those, you probably will not need this article. For the tape deck you will need a cable with two phono connectors at one end, a single 3.5mm mini stereo jack and the other. These cables are often used to connect media players to stereos and you can find them very cheaply at the local shops. Once you have cable out there, plug it in and get ready to record.
Ok, now we will keep out eyes on computer software that is also needed to transfer cassette tapes to our computer. There are some effectives recording software for Window, Macintosh and GNU/Linux we can choose. Some of them are expensive while some are cheap and some are free! Of cause, here we will choose free software which is actually very good. Travel on several websites where provide you plenty of free software, you can found software we will use for doing this. Then, download and install the version suitable for your operating system.
Now, we are ready to deal with our screen, follow me to the next part to know what thing we must to do on the next steps.
