Digital SLR Camera Cleaning
Many people who like to try on picture capturing usually have digital camera to deal with and digital SLR camera is one kind of digital camera those one prefer to be an owner. Of cause, all devices always come with the cleaning jobs to maintain a good condition of it to be prolonged. Same the digital SLR camera, it also need you to clean after has been used for amount of times. Cleaning digital SLR camera may be a daunting task because you can not take one wrong move as once there is something wrong on your camera, an expensive piece of its item may need a professional fixing and cost you high. This is one reason that why many people like to pay some money for a professional to hold this task to avoid any mishaps.
However, cleaning digital SLR camera should not be a difficult job when it comes with the right methods to do and the right tools to use. Here are the right ways to clean your digital SLR camera if you want to try it by yourself.
- First of all, prepare the cleaning area where is clean and dustless. Also make sure you do this task indoors. Then, prepare yourself by wearing lint free clothing like spandex and if you are wearing long sleeves, roll up your sleeves to avoid getting lint on your SLR camera.
- Start from the outside body of your camera. The nooks and crannies are the area where dust and grime accumulate. To blow out the dirt from these areas, use an air blower that has a straw tip to target those really small spaces. Then, use a micro fiber cloth that you can buy at specialty camera stores or photo events to give it a good wipe.
- Next, unscrew the lens from the camera body in order to blow away dust particles by using the air blower. Never use compressed air because the pressure may be too much on your lens. Set the lens aside and dampen a soft micro fiber cloth with lens cleaning solution. Do not put the solution directly on the lens as it may ruin your lenses. Wipe the lens with the dampened micro fiber cloth and use another dry micro fiber cloth to wipe away excess fluid.
- If you have shaky hands, sensor cleaning should be moved in hands of professional as it is a bit tricky. Lift the mirror to reach the sensor, but do not do this in any circumstances even if you feel you are capable enough to do it because the mirror can not handle even light air blowing. Whenever you do a change of lenses, the sensor gets dirt and dust particles. If you want to clean it, check out your digital SLR manual first to make sure you are already change it to “sensor cleaning mode” before cleaning. Then, use the air blower to remove the dust. After that wipe it with a micro fiber cloth or with a sensor brush.
