Traditional Educational Toys

When thinking of children, what things you think to? Of course there are many things to think about when we look at our children, whether how to take care of them best, what they need, how about their future, etc. And when I focus on what they need during their old age now, I always pay attention on healthy foods, good sleep, and the suitable development for their living like education, good activity for child, and anything will help to enhance their skills including playing.

 

Sure that all child love playing, even those who appreciate studying or doing some activities. And when it comes to child playing, many different kinds of toys probably involved in most case. However, there are different toys for child in different years. If we go back to the date around 10 years ago, we will see that there are traditional toys have been used for child to play. But, nowadays, it is difficult to find out these simply handmade toys available in the shop. In stead, we often see there are toys witch will need electric power or dry cell to play such as robot with sound, small helicopter that can control by wireless device, and others. Yes, these toys can stimulate and excite our kids, but think that what benefit our children can get, except just only fun and enjoyment for few days, even few hours.

Regardless of which kinds of toys we prepare for our children, the essential here is that toys should be educational toys. Educational toys mean to toys that allow our kids to learn and improve any skills. This is why educational toys are wildly popular with parents, grandparents and caregivers alike and manufacturers are meeting the ever-rising demand for educational toys so they are constantly introducing exciting new technology. As a result, educational toys are morphing into child sized PC’s and hand-held video games that stimulate little minds by means of bells, whistles and flashing lights. While these new technology toys make our kids spend time entire day with at the first period, let’s face it, electronic toys do little to develop social skills or encourage imagination, creativity or physical play. Due to the fact, these types of toys should be balanced with those that provide physical and creative play that calls for a high level of interaction, especially those traditional toys that have stood the test of time, although their lack of current technology.

When compare between the price of new technology toys with traditional toys, we will find that the first ones always come with higher price. Simple things like construction paper, crayons, scissors, glue and modeling clay are always encourage creativity of child with cheap price. Sidewalk chalk is a low-cost toy that will help our kids producing original art day after day. Likewise, things that replicate real life experiences like dolls and dollhouses, toy food, play-kitchens and toy cars will promote imagination and allow children to express themselves. Our kids love to give a doll dress-up clothes and costume jewelry and imaginations will flourish.

It is great to provide our children with a healthy mixture of modern and traditional educational toys. This will allow them the opportunity to strengthen skills through the various forms of play that are essential to their healthy development.
