Are You Ready To Compete For The Best Job After College? – Part II

There are other things to take in mind when applying for a good job after your college.

Have Well Spoken: Think, what words should be released from your mouth and what should not, as well as think that how you can great say these phrases. Keep in mind while you are in interviewing period that recruiters pay close attention to your vocabulary and speaking style. They believe that your education and level of sophistication can be reflected by your words. So, avoid using slang, mispronounce words or a style that is too familiar and not businesslike. These will let the recruiters decide you that you are unprofessional and are not ready to work in a big organization.

Give the Recruiters Your Stories and Examples: If you are able to provide impressive examples, your capabilities will be more interesting and more powerful. Wise students usually spend time thinking about and polishing the stories they will tell, especially the problems they were able to overcome. Tell some stories about your hard time and let them know the way you use to solve the problem is powerful to impress your accomplishments. Remember, employers love students who are willing to fight for success.

Make The Difference: It is great to separate yourself from a lot of other applicants there by making the difference, especially when all applicants have the same major, have taken the same courses and have achieved good grades. Smart students seek out job-related activities and employment to give them the opportunity to stand out. There are many ways to demonstrate that you are different from the rest ones, for instant, think more, better and faster, solve problems, help someone, benefit your employer or a customer, demonstrate creativity or generate revenue.

Find out the Way to Be Memorable: It is important to make sure that after the day of interviewing the recruiters can remember you, but only in positive way. To be memorable, you must find out the way or must leave the interviewer with a reason to remember you. These are some methods to make the recruiters remember you: 1) Leave them with a vexing question, 2) Give them something to read or take back with them, 3) Ask them to do something for you, 4) Send them a thank you note. Take note that whatever you do, always be businesslike and related to your field.

Have References and Recommendations: Most college students, while learning in the college, are likely to make a special effort to connect with and build relationships with respected and influential people in the campus, at work and in the community. These are helpful when you are in the process of recruiting for the job. Multiple references from a variety of sources are impressive as most employers expect the best candidates to have previously impressed leaders and professionals in all three areas: campus, workplace, community. All of this is like you get your drivers license for a couple of years before you received your learners permit. This can show the employers that you are plan for the future for long years ago, not after graduation. Also, give them the name and contact number of some persons who work for good company and know about you most to make the recruiters sure that what you have told them (about your extra training, part-time job during education, etc) are real.

If you are a college student, do not wait until your last day in the class and then start to prepare for getting a good job. Make yourself ready to compete to get a good job now is a must!
