Types of Vegetables and its Nutrition – Part I

Vegetables are plant that is used as a food, particularly in savory dishes. It forms an important part for our daily diet and can add wonderful flavors to our daily diet too. Vegetables are naturally good and can help in protecting our body against diabetes, heart disease and cancer because it contains lot of vitamins and minerals.  Taking lots of vegetables in our dairy diet also make us kept away from overweight and obese problem. Besides that, it also can help us to reduce taken meat and animal product in our daily diet.

 

Almost of vegetables are great sources of fiber and it none has cholesterol, low in calories and fat. Taken a lots of vegetables that contain high levels of fiber let our digestive system become more healthier. Since vegetables are low in calories, it enable us take lots of vegetables without consuming excess energy. Vegetables provide us the essential amino acids that our body needs to survive and the presence of vitamins and many other substances provide the nutrients to our growth and healthy. For example, the whole grain rice with a meal of spinach and bean can give us a natural feeling of liveliness because it treat our body right with making the energy become more active helping to burn more energy everyday.

 

The availability of vegetables is different in many types and tastes. All of it contains a different nutrition to our body needs. Different types of vegetables have been categorized according to their type from bulb vegetables, fruit vegetables, inflorescent vegetables, leaf vegetables, root vegetables, stalk vegetables and root vegetables. Bulb vegetables being called because of its bulbs, where the food nutrients are stored that are eaten not the leaf. Kinds of bulb vegetables are garlic, chive, spring onion and other variety of onions, leek, water chestnut, scallions and grey shallot.

 

Bulb vegetables are aromatic vegetables that being used widely to add flavors in soup, casseroles and broth (a thin soup). When you want to buy the bulb vegetables for your prepare you dairy meal, always select the firm bulb vegetables that are blemished and free of dark spots and mould. For example, the green part of the chive, spring onion and leek should be firm, bright green and shiny, not withered. Bulb vegetables can be stored for long periods of time. As long as it has been stored, as more as delicious and health benefit you can get.

 

Bulb vegetables nutrition are water-soluble nutrients and it widely distributed in foods. These vitamins influence is felt in many parts of body as an important element for good vision, healthy skin, healthy nervous system, normal appetite and help the red blood cell formation. They also act as ‘coenzymes’ that help the body to obtain energy from foods. Some of water-soluble vitamins are not stored in the body and need to be replaced everyday such as vitamin C and B-complex vitamins. Bulb vegetables are known as medical use. For example, garlic that being well-known of its medical virtues and are used as medication for a centuries ago. It also can help in lowering the high blood pressure and help prevent the cancer.
