The Debate of Search Engines and Privacy
Technology changes the form of data keeping from paper writing to computer typing. You can see that almost place use computer to store everything as a file. For example; it is hard to see the mail write on the paper and send by postal. People probably send their mail by typing on the page of program and send it via internet connection that we call e-mail. Personal data like full name date of birth, address, telephone number, back account number, credit card number, and any other personal data are usually been record in the computer. Nowadays, in the world of internet have numerous program give the user large benefit. Most program focus on the positive using while many ones create for attacked the other. Search engine is one of a lot of program design for helping people to find everything they want to know via internet. With search engine, we can know everything in the world that people keep in the computer and let them online. In contrast, search engine can be make a risk if someone use to find every important data of us o have designs on.
The Spanish authority of data protection set up the topic of data, privacy, and web search engines at the international positions. Then, the Spanish Agency of Data Protection has done a report of attitude according to the topic and the National and International repercussions of the member of discussion. Refer to the conclusions of the report; the members were agreed with the proposals that every single or juridical person can be against that his data are indexed-link and are showed everybody on websites.
The report marks that now there is not a uniform policy about privacy in web search engine. So, personal information does not have the way enough to protect and it should be more responsible and respectful. And the report is also said that the mechanisms should be developed in order to let the users know what is using will be done to their data.
In the pass time, web search engines run without responsibility under the fact that they only search and give back on line information to the users that being as publishers; they should be responsible for that.
The Spanish Authority of Data Protection was also opens a debate between the two rights to the committee, the first one is freedom of expression rights and the other one is privacy rights. Both of them are included in the Universal Human Rights Conventions too.
With none of against, this topic is the same as the ones that are in the other countries then, it will be bring to national and international consequences that will be effect to the laws about data protection, image protection, intimacy, honor, internet, and new technologies. Furthermore, it will be taking to criminal consequences while making changes for way of the web search engine work, its index/links systems, and its development policy at the same time.
