Make Sure Your Pet is Protected from Household Dangers: II

Those stated on the first part of article are what things you should take eyes on to keep your pets away from danger may cause in your home area by items around. Not only things at outside the home’s wall, there are also many things inside your home can harm your pets as well. The list of those and the way to keep away from them is below;

Human medications Medications for human never created for using in animals. Almost all of people’s home probably have medicament that is ready to use when someone get not a big health problem or injury. Medicament typically includes pain killers (such as aspirin, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen), cold medicines, anti-cancer drugs, anti-depressants, even vitamins, diet pills and so on. All these can be toxic to animals. So, try to keep medication containers and tubes of ointments and creams away from your pets who could chew through them, and be vigilant about finding and disposing of any dropped pills.

Toys with removable parts – Baby animals like a little child who loves toys. Toys with removable parts like squeaky toys or stuffed animals with plastic eyes can pose a choking hazard to animals. So, take the same precautions with pets as you would with a small child.

Rawhide doggie chewsThese items may be contaminated with Salmonella, which can infect animals and humans who come in contact with the chews. These kinds of chews can pose a choking hazard as well so they should be offered to your pets only with your supervision.

Poisonous household plantsMost of us like to have some plants inside home. These plants include azalea, dieffenbachia (dumb cane), lilies, mistletoe, and philodendron. Be careful the plants you have are not those are poisonous household plants.

String, yarn, rubber bands, and even dental floss – All these are easy to swallow and can cause intestinal blockages or strangulation on the animals.

Insect control productsMost homes probably have the insecticides used in many over-the-counter flea and tick remedies which may be toxic to companion animals. Try to get prescription flea and tick control products as they are much safer and more effective.

Leftovers such as chicken bones – The leftovers we make after meals easily shatter and can choke our cat or dog. Apart from those, onions and onion powder; alcoholic beverages; yeast dough; coffee grounds and beans; salt; macadamia nuts; tomato, potato, and rhubarb leaves and stems; avocados and anything with mold growing on it are other human foods to keep away from your pets.

Chocolate – Many of us never have known that chocolate is poisonous to dogs, cats, and ferrets.

Fumes from nonstick cooking surfaces and self-cleaning ovens – These can be deadly to birds. So, be careful when using any pump or aerosol spray around birds.

To secure our lovely pets from being harmful from all household products used in our home, always use these items with caution and keep a pet first-aid kit (for dogs and cats) and manual readily available. Once your pets have been poisoned because all of your precautions are fail, immediately contact your veterinarian or emergency veterinary service to save your pet’s life.
