The Processes to Breed BETTA Fish: Part I

Before breeding betta fish, it is necessary to know about the basic information of betta fish. In the world of betta splendens, only one who looks after the eggs and young is the males. They will do this important task by building a nest out of bubbles. The spit of the male betta fish is on the bubbles which acts like a dis-infecting agent while the females’s job is only to lay the eggs.

Breeding betta fish look like is not hard job for someone. However, to get the best result of breeding, you should to know the right process to do this. There are 6 processes inform you in two part.

Process 1 – Conditioning

Before breeding betta fish, you must to condition both of the breeders – male and female first. Female fish need to have feeding with a lot of highly fat and protein rich foods about 2 weeks. While, the male is also need a lot of food in this two weeks because while he is in the breeding tank, he should not eat and he will not eat when he is with the fry. For conditioning betta, worms are a good food. You need to feed the bettas worms 2 times a day during this period; this is a good feeding plan. Do not let the male and female can see each other until the week to put them together in the breeding tank come to.

Process 2 – Set up the tank

Breeding tank must to a bare tank. Because the eggs are very small and will fall constantly so gravel will just make the eggs get stuck and rot eventually so, you need to bare bottom of the tank. Keep the sponge filter on the opposite side of the tank is a good idea but, not even have it running until the male is out. You must to leave live plants around the tank to add protection and food for the fry and this also help to clean the water. There are three directions for the nest. One is to add a half cut sytrofoam cup in the tank and tape it to one of the sides that the male usually build the nest under this. This is the best way for the nest. The other way is using a lot of floating plants like ricca; it can get the male to build under there. The last is just let the male build a bubble nest anywhere. At the other place end of the tank, a heater is a good idea and should be placed. It is important to keep the atmosphere temp in the same as the water because the baby fish do not have their labrith organ ready yet and cold air can kill them, so, keep the tank covered. A good temp for betta fish is 85 ºF as bettas naturally come from a warm environment. Always let the water in the breeding tank sits for one or two day like you would for any fish tank.
