Cats are prone to several viruses that are dangerous for their healthy. These viruses that are the most common include Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), Feline Leukemia Virus (FLV), and Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). Among these viruses, FIP is a very serious condition as there is unknown treatment to beat them. Although there is a vaccine for FIP, but many cat owners do not believe in its effectiveness, even the veterinary.
FIV, also known as cat AIDS and this make many cat owners afraid that they can catch HIV from an FIV-positive cat, but the fact is it is impossible.
FLV is not always immediately fatal and vaccination is the best way to prevent this virus to attack your cats, but only when your cats have not been exposed to the virus yet. However, once this disease has been contracted, the cat usually does not live for a long time. Additionally, FLV is contagious, so keep a cat with this disease far way from other cats.
Many cats also become a host for worms. The most common parasites that infect cats are tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms include heart worms. Symptoms that may indicate worms are flea infestation, white specks in the stool, and the loss of weight without ability to gain it back. Worm medication is the way to cure these problems and if you are ignore about these, your cats will die on later.
Lyme disease is another health problem of cats caused by ticks. This disease will make your cats can move more slowly than usual or act like lethargic as they are in pain. Since your cats are look like these, take them to the vet to cure the problem soon.
