The result of major heat loss from a body that causes temperature of the core body of person to drop is called Hypothermia. The most and main reason can raise Hypothermia is person is immerse in water over an extended period of time. Another causes of Hypothermia is wetting clothes that person wear with wind blowing against for long period of time. People who often get hypothermia usually be the ones who are lost out in the wilderness or lost out at the sea for several days. So, if boating is your favorite recreation that you always spend time with when you have a holiday, nobody can confirm you that you will not meet the bad situation like losing in the sea although you have long time of experience with the sea you are now and there is high technology boat you are running. So, to protect yourself from any drastically lead by Hypothermia, here are tips you should to learn for safety boating.

 

First of all, you must know the main sources of heat loss from the body. Your head, armpits and crotch lose the majority of your heat. So, before going on the water, make sure you prepare beanie or a piece of dry cloth for wrapping around the top of your head if you get lost in the sea. Beanie will help to slow the rate of head heat loss.

 

The risk of getting hypothermia can be increased by physical exertion in the water and this also drains your energy fast. If you are overturned vessel, try to climb up onto the vessel or anything can keep you from drowning, at least hold something which can keep you afloat. These will help you to save energy which required by your body to keep you warm.

 

If there are any others in the water, try utilizing the huddle/ HELP (Heat Escape Lessening) position that will put people in a ring shape in the water as this is other way to retain your body temperature and allow you use far less energy to stay afloat. To perform HELP position, each person must to put their feet in the middle kept high in the water while your upper arms tight around your test with your arms and also interlinked with the person next to you. Take close together and try to keep as much of your body out of the water.

 

However, you also need to learn how to help if someone starts to develop Hypothermia. What are noticeable to let your know now your friends are suffering from Hypothermia such as they seems tired and drowsy, cold, slow faint pulse and confused with their slurred speech. Since someone get Hypothermia, you must try to keep this person as warm as possible and wait for coming help. Try to dry their hair and warm their head with some dry clothing. If you are on board a boat, remove wet cloth from them and cover their body with blankets.
