Black Hair Care Tips during Winter: Part II

The first part of this article we talked about what things can cause damage to your black hair and how to prevent or protect this. Not just only those tips already declared in part one; there still be another things to know in order to keep your healthy hair from getting damage because of winter season.

 

You might see many women choose to wear protective styles during the winter. Protective styles are styles that guard the ends of the hair from the elements. A few protective styles to consider are buns, braid extensions, and weaves. Each of these styles is generally low maintenance. But, it will allow you to preserve as much of your hair as possible throughout the winter months if maintained properly.

Protective styles as buns require some carefulness. Having buns style may cause stress on the hair line, so it is important to make sure that the hair is not pulled back too tightly if you choose to wear a bun. It is great to take the bun down every night and lightly mist the ends (about the last 2 inches of hair) with a good moisturizing spray and then lock in that moisture with heavy oil such as castor oil. Doing this on regular basis if you always go anywhere with bun style will make you to have the hair super soft, strong and moisturized in the morning.

Another good choice for winter months is braid extensions. Following these simple tips if you prefer braid extension will allow you not only preserves your hair, but you will also have much stronger, softer and healthier hair come spring. If you are using synthetic braiding hair such as yaki, kanekelon or other synthetic fibers, it is best to soak the hair in apple cider vinegar and then rinse in cool water before getting your extensions put in. This will strip the chemical away since synthetic braids come coated with a chemical that causes your hair to become dry. Spraying the hair with a braid spray every day is another way to reduce dryness. Do not have to drench the hair because a fine mist throughout the extensions will suffice.

Having weaves hair style also the way to protect your hair during winter, but only if they are sewn in and your own hair is cornrowed, out of harm’s way. To retain moisture in this case, the only thing that is essential is to make sure that it is replenished on a regular basis. It is good to run water through the hair on a regularly and followed with a good moisturizing spray, depending on the quality of the weave.

No matter which protective style you choose during winter time, it is important to make water your best friend by drinking a plenty of it and let it run through your hair often. It is unnecessary to shampoo your hair every time you get it wet. The lost moisture can be restored by letting water run through your hair.
