However, we will focus on makeup for this article. And the new trend now is mineral makeup. Do you know about mineral makeup? If not and do not want to be as people behind the times, read entire this article to know what mineral makeup is.
Mineral makeup is the latest and greatest trend in cosmetics. We can find these cosmetics in highline department store counters, pushed and promoted on late night infomercials and touted in high fashion magazines. While there are many different brand names and marketing strategies, most mineral makeup has remarkably similar ingredients. The minerals used commonly in cosmetics include hydrated silica, iron oxide, silk mica, micronized titanium dioxide, and micronized zinc oxide.
Micronized titanium dioxide is a common ingredient in sun block products, suited particularly to protect skin from damaging sunlight. This because this white mineral’s crystalline structure naturally reflects and defuses the sun’s harmful rays. And to reflect the sunlight’s dangerous UVA and UVB rays, the micronized titanium dioxide will work together with Micronized zinc oxide in combination.
Mineral makeup contains no irritating dyes or perfumes so it is good cosmetics for those are subject to allergies or with very sensitive skin. This is because these cosmetics do not use talc and other fillers that can be harmful to the skin. Furthermore, mineral makeup is organic, hypoallergenic and oil free so they will not clog pores like some conventional cosmetics and good for the acne-prone ones.
Mineral foundations, unlike traditional cosmetics, can provide sheer to full coverage and can also provide a more opaque texture if applied in layers with a damp sponge, much like us would apply liquid foundation. Consistency of mineral makeup gives coverage without the thick, unnatural, pore-clogging consequences of traditional liquid foundation.
The one drawback of mineral makeup cosmetics is they tend to come in higher price.
