Coming with confidence in Public Speaking

Do you fear when you need to speak in front of the class? If you are not a preacher or a master of ceremonies who always have a chance to speak in public, you may afraid to do that.

Everything is possible when come with confidence. Keep in mind that you can do everything you want. Like a public speaking, you may do with a quaking or freezing when speak to a crowd in first time. But in the next time you can do it better. Speak in public need some spunk and confidence and learning public speaking is helpful. Although you are not an orator or charismatic speaker but if you have more experience and takes courage to do about it, you can do it.

 

After learning public speaking, you will not feel excite before walk up to a platform. There are a several options let you have experience about public speaking; for example, signing up with Toastmasters International, joining a drama group, looking for a speech tutors, or learning by yourself with e-books on public speaking. All fear factors in public speaking can beat by your persistence. 

 

You Can Correct Speech Problems

 

The beginner of public speaking usually comes with many problems on speech. Do not worry about these; all speech problems can be correct.

 

  • Cluttering. Cluttering make you talks too fast in spurts and sounding jerky. People will not understand or not sure what do you want to say because of the long pauses between words.
  • Stuttering. A lot of people agonize over this speech disorder because of their stuttering. With stuttering, people find it difficult to get the sounds out then they end up repeating part of a word. This problem cans relief by speech therapy and support of your family.
  • Weak voice. It not good if you speak to public with a weak voice. Some time, people are not clear in your word. To solve this problem, vocal exercises can strengthen your vocal muscles. Meeting a medical professional is the best way to check that you do not have a problem about respiratory or other ailments.
  • Nasal voice. If you are talking though your nose, you will have a nasal voice. You can test that you have a nasal voice or not by pinch your nose and speak, if you have trouble to release your voice, it mean you have a nasal voice.
  • Regional accents. It not wrong if you have a voice with regional accents. You shouldn’t be ashamed of your regional accent because people know it not your false. But if you do not want to get the sound out with your regional accents, you can try and ask help from the other to check your sound.
  • Mispronunciation. The speaker should not to have mispronunciation in his public speaking that can make people laugh or feel awkward. To avoid this problem, a structured session at the speech laboratory with a speech therapist is the good way.
  • Unnecessary fillers. During your public speaking, keep in mind that do not dispense a speech fillers every time when you thinking about the next sentence. Smile is the better way.
